On Thursday, 12th February at 7:30p.m., Coiste an Gháirdín Orgánaigh (Organic Garden Committee) will be hosting an information and fundraising evening in the Halla Mór where they will present the school’s vision for an organic garden. Guest speaker on the evening will be TV gardener and “organic champion” Kitty Scully, who has over fifteen years experience working on school and community gardens.
The information evening will also provide an opportunity for interested parents to volunteer their services. In addition to persons withhorticulture experience we have an immediate requirement for builders, joiners, farmers and machine operators who could assist us with the initial establishment of the garden. We would also like to hear from academics, cooks, artists, photographers and anyone who feels that they have a particular skill-set that could enhance the children’s experience of the garden.
Beidh ainm an bhuaiteora don chomórtas “Design an Organic Garden Logo” á fhógairt ag Kitty Scully ar an oíche. The winner of the“Design an Organic Garden Logo” (which was open to Rang 4 – 6) will be announced by Kitty Scully and spot prizes (including dinner for two at Ballymaloe) will be drawn at the end of the evening.
The launch is being covered by The Irish Examiner and will appear in a Special Feature on “School Gardens” which is scheduled to go to print at the end of February. An Irish Examiner photographer will be present on the evening.
Tea and coffee will be provided at the end of the evening and there will be an opportunity to meet with Kitty Scully and members of Coiste an Gháirdín Orgánaigh. Bígí linn!
Admission is free.
Is mise le meas,
Gabriel.
